Constitution/Aims Of The Society...

The Society has been formed :

  • To promote and support the status of the local legal profession.
  • To provide a representative link for Members between the public and the legal profession.
  • To settle disputed points of practice between Practitioners.
  • To prevent abuses and malpractices in or affecting the profession.
  • To make representations on behalf of local Practitioners on proposed changes in the law, practice and procedures.

The Society is also affiliated to the Association of North Western Law Societies which comprises some 22 Societies across the North-West region of the country. The Association, whose headquarters are in Preston, is recognised as an influential body with the Law Society in London. It also arranges on a regional basis a further extensive legal education programme at very competitive cost.
